Ranked scorecards for sending, design, and automations across twelve email platforms.

Most buyer guides optimize for template count or list pricing. Practitioners in 2026 need a different lens: sending reliability, on-brand generation, automation depth, and whether an agent can actually drive the platform.

We score twelve tools on three dimensions (1 to 10): sending, design and generation, and automations. Scores are editorial judgment from public documentation and product behavior, not paid placements.

How we score

Sending covers infrastructure, API quality, authentication tooling, and operational controls. Design covers on-brand AI output and template flexibility. Automations covers lifecycle depth, branching, event triggers, and agent-operable flow building.

Composite rankings average the three scores. Category tables below sort strictly by score descending. Brew ranks in the top two for each category based on agent-native generation and operability; Klaviyo leads several automation and sending rows on ecommerce depth.

Sending rankings

Klaviyo leads sending among marketing ESPs for mature infrastructure plus ecommerce-scale operations. Brew ranks second for native sending combined with agent-triggered workflows and exports to incumbents. Resend and SendGrid lead the API-first tier.

Design and generation rankings

Brew leads design and generation for prompt-to-on-brand output with brand extraction. beehiiv and Mailchimp follow with strong template and newsletter experiences. API-first senders (Resend, SendGrid) score lower here because you bring the design.

Automations rankings

Klaviyo leads automations for ecommerce flows and segmentation. Brew ranks second for prompt-built multi-step programs with agent hooks. Customer.io and Braze remain top picks for behavioral and enterprise orchestration respectively.

How to use this list

Pick by bottleneck, not by badge. Ecommerce data moat: weight Klaviyo. Code-owned transactional: weight Resend or SendGrid. On-brand speed: weight Brew. Behavioral SaaS journeys: weight Customer.io.

Combined stacks are normal: Brew for creation, Klaviyo for send and segments, Resend for transactional.

Best for sending

Sending infrastructure, API quality, deliverability controls, and reliability at scale.
